Our February 12th dance was a big success thanks to all
who traveled long distances to dance to the wonderful caller Jimmy Gouge.
We had 4 or 5 squares on the floor all night and they were all doing what
Jimmy was calling; part of the time! Jimmy al-ways makes it fun and
enjoyable even for the new dancers. We found out what Jo's NOT favorite
song was but don't ask because I have already forgotten! We didn't have
any students because they are all graduates now! Welcome and thank you new
dancers, please come dance with us each month; we really enjoy dancing
with you!
Guests for the evening were: The Perryton Promenaders, Hub City Squares,
Western Swing, Red Carpet Squares, Hydro Hi Steppers, Keyes Steppers from
Keyes, Oklahoma and our own Antelope Hills Club. We truly appreciate each
and every one of you for coming and please come back each 2nd Fri-day of
the month. We will have the crock pots going and the tea and coffee on!
The applause level for the individual clubs wasn't rousing but it did get
louder when thanking the cooks for the wonderful food and for Jimmy's
calling!
My dance partner for the night, Riley; basically ditched me at the door
for his new friend Slade! It would be so nice to have half the energy of a
3 or 6 year old boy! I want to take this opportunity to thank Richard for
dancing with me and to apologize to Jimmy ( you know who you are) for
sticking with me through the Plus Square! We did manage to stay in the
same square we started in and all I can say is; Y'all didn't do a good
enough job of putting me where I needed to be!!!
Our condolences go out to the Don Main family in the loss of his mother
Florence Main and to LaReta and John Wells ( past members of AHS) in the
loss of Reta's brother Delbert Fettig, who passed away on February 10th.
We are very sorry for your loss. We want to wish Sue Flowers ( also a past
member) a really speedy recovery from her recent surgery and hope to see
her in a square again some-where one of these days!
Our officers for 2010 are: President Jim and JoAnn McClellan; Vice
President, Bob Rogers; Secretary/Treasurer, Claude and Georgie Sadler;
Reporter, Jody Jester; and Delegates Sy and Neva Churchill and Thomas and
Jody Jester. We would like to file a missing persons report on Bob; if you
see him please tell him we miss him and his laugh! God bless all who are
sick or hurting; we hope you are better soon.
