HUB CITY SQUARES
Hub City Squares held their August dance at the Clinton High School
Cafeteria, a different place, but still a really good dance. Don Main from
Vici was in rare form. We all enjoyed his calling. The hosts for the dance
were Bill and Alfreda Wells and Don and Betty Kissinger. (Is there any
club in Southwest District where we don't enjoy good food?)
We had some non-dancing visitors at our dance: Jim and Barb Drayer from
Clinton and Mona Perkins from Paso Robles, California. Southwest district
clubs represented were: Altus Twirlers, Antelope Hills Squares, Hydro
Hi-Steppers, Western Swing and Hub City Squares. Carla Glidewell from
Circle 8 in OKC came to dance with us also. Leon and Pat Meason from Hydro
Hi-Steppers won the door prize. Carl Preston and Alfreda Wells celebrate
August birthdays and Don and Mildred Deimund have an August wedding
anniversary.
Hub City Squares will begin lessons on Monday, September 8. We will use
the Clinton Veteran's Center recreation room again this year. It is a very
comfortable place and it gives our veterans some entertainment. We invite
you to come help us guide our new dancers as they learn our hobby. The
first night will be a time to get acquainted. We will have snacks and give
information about square dancing and our club. Because our teacher, Bill
Barrick, has a previous engagement (?) our first lesson will be on
September 22.
Hub City Squares will host the Southwest District Fall Festival on
October 18. It will be at the Custer County Fairgrounds on Highway 183
south of Clinton. Toby Thomason, a national caller, will be the caller. We
hope you will put this on your calendar and come to Clinton and enjoy a
great day.
Summer is over and the weather is perfect for square dancing. We invite
you to our September 13 dance. Jerry and Gayle Stover from Lawton will be
the caller. Hosts for this dance are Mary Muse, Walt Guthrie and Art
Fanshier. We will be back at our regular place, the Clinton Middle School
Cafeteria. We really would love to have you come dance with us.
