Hydro Hi-Steppers

In Oklahoma, in July, everyone knows it is hot. Air conditioners are a must have. But toss in a caller of Jeff Holley caliber and a bunch of square dancers, air conditioning or not, there no doubt about it being hot. Didn’t matter, Jeff kept calling and we kept squaring and had a ball.

Square dance friends from the Spirit of ’76, Silver Spurs, Hub City and Western Swing were with us for the evening. Of course a number of Hi-Steppers were with us.

Gene Whitfield won the door Prize. Yonzell Vogt picked up the winner’s half of the Split the Pot.

As a rare happening the third weekend came early enough this month for us to report this month’s activities. Scott Bennett called our dance and he made us put on our thinking caps. Calls we all know automatically were changed. Scott put reverse in front of them. Then How? Brings out one of the things I like most about square dancing: Nobody gets mad. We are there to have fun-so have it.

Marvin Vones won the door prize. Alfreda Wells picked up the winner’s half of Split the Pot. (On her birthday no less).

Hi-Steppers next dance will be the 20th of September with Skip Gates calling. We will be back in our regular community hall.
