Jim Robertson and Linda Meyer have graciously agreed to be Publicity
Director for the NW District for the remainder of 2010. The first issue
will be a June/July 2010 edition of "Wheeling & Dealings" in
the Northwest District.
Those who have e-mails will receive their copies by e-mail and those
who do not will receive theirs by the US Postal Service. This will cut
down on printing cost, postage and time spent in preparing and mailing of
the issue. This will be a trial run. If you all like the format and would
like to continue to receive an issue every two months, please let Jim and
I know so that plans can be made to continue the publication.
Rod & Lois Ford and Don Main have been busy giving square dance
lessons this past fall and have continued this spring. Rod and Lois may be
giving another set of lessons in Kiowa, KS soon! Way to go!! I'm not sure
what the total of new graduates is but we hope that all of them plan on
joining one of our clubs in the NW District.
Just before the summer break Jack & Peggy Norman held their 14th
Annual Boggy Creek Barn Dance and Luke Riddle & Carmen Veal had a
"Fish Fry" and Square Dance. What a way to welcome the start of
summer! NW Singles will have a dance the 3rd Friday of the month at the
Old Santa Fe Depot during the summer. All Clubs will resume their regular
schedules in September.
Ticket sales have started for the "1957 Chevrolet" that
will be given away at the OSDF's Festival the first weekend in November.
Ads can also be sold for the Festival Program Book. The sale of tickets
and Ads are great fund raisers for your clubs. I have the information on
the ad sales and will get it to you soon. The Northwest District is in
charge of "Intro to Square Dancing" which will be held on
Saturday afternoon. Rod will be lining up callers to participate and we
hope that all of you will come and help out!
After much thought and deliberation, Dale and I will not be going
for a fifth term as President of the NW District. We have been doing
double duty as we are also President of Levis 'n Lace and have been for
five years. There are a lot of very qualified members in our District that
would make wonderful officers. Most of the members of the District Board
have served as long as we have (some longer) and are due a much needed
rest! Please, please, please someone step forward! If not, what will the
future be for our District and our hobby of square dancing? Let's keep our
District intact!

that we oft may win, by fearing to attempt. - William Shakespeare
