The 2003 Spring District meeting was held January 19, 2003 in Guymon, OK. Co President Loraine Conner called the meeting to order at 2:50 PM, after a hearty meal at LeArm's Restaurant. Those attending were Loraine Conner, DuWayne & Martha Thurman, Rusty & Judy Tindell and Jimmy & Pat Callaway.

Minutes from the last meeting, held last Fall, were read and approved. The treasurers report was read and approved.

The Spring Round up, sponsored by the State Federation, will be held at Quartz Mountain on March 15th & 16th.

The 2003 National Square Dance convention will be on June 25th thru 28th in Oklahoma City. The grand prize of ticket sales for this event will be a 1972 corvette. Each district is responsible for cups, coffee, and a coffee pot in the Callers' Hospitality room.

Judy Tindell made a motion to reimburse the President of the district $100.00 for each trip made to Oklahoma City on district business. DuWayne Thurman seconded the motion. Everyone thanked Loraine and Avis for all of the hard work they perform for the district.

Jimmy Callaway made a suggestion to have only one vice president position since our district is getting so small. District officers for 2003 are:.

EDITORS MUSINGS .....

Hi folks, we've got a year of dancing lined up so get out your kitchen or purse calendar, Day Planner, Palm Pilot or whatever else you use to keep track and get yourself organized for twelve months of fine dancing. To assist you in this task we're including a calendar with all the years district events. However, be sure to keep with the pages of each issue of the Dancer as there will DEFINITELY be many other listed events going on around in the five state area.

Also, since the District Calendar contains dance and club info upcoming dances for the current quarter I will be dispensing with the quarterly calendar. Instead I've taken the opportunity to include some info on the upcoming National Square Dance Convention being held in Oklahoma City, Ok the 52nd National. Hope everyone has made plans for this upcoming national event.

In addition this issue includes words of wisdom from our correspondents from the Far East, John & Ruth Keltz and our former Panhandle Traveler, now a Kansas Traveler, the infamous Harlow Vader. We'd like to welcome a new regular contributor who has many fine years of calling, Cecil Burton. Also, our own District officers have provided a lot of good info on past and upcoming events, so be sure not to pass up any info.
