Red Carpet Squares
President: Jack & Peggy Norman
I have to start this with a big WAY TO GO square dancers. This is in
regards to the huge success of the benefit dance given for Rod Ford on the
30th of March. This may have been just a two hour dance, but more fun,
heart, caring, compassion and dancing was packed into this time than I
have experienced in a long time. There were 149 folks who signed the guest
book and I was told that there was $6,800. raised on this occasion. My
goodness we had a good time with all 6 callers Nicky Boone, Don Main,
Jimmy Gouge, Cecil Burton, Skip Gates and Freddie McKee. Who knew Jimmy
Gouge was an auctioneer?? He did an outstanding job with the live auction.
We also had a silent auction filled with all kinds of great items. If
anyone went away hungry from this event it is their own fault as there
were lots and lots of great food there.
Our regular dance on the 12th of April was a fun filled time also. Don
Main filled in for Rod Ford as Rod had called the night before and was a
little tuckered, but he still called a tip, and he and Lois even got to
dance some. The evening was filled with enjoyment. Our next dance will be
on the 26th of April with Nicky Boone at the S&S Dance Hall. Come and
join us. On Friday the 25th we will be dancing at the nursing home in
Shattuck.
Be sure to mark the 17th of May on your calendars as that is Jack and
Peggy Normans’ Barn Dance. Oklahoma Wind will be playing as
entertainment and provide a little two-step and waltzing music along with
everything else they perform. This will start around 5:30, dinner will be
served 6:30. Bring your favorite covered dish, the meat will be provided.
This is a “don’t miss” blow out, so grab your partner and join in on
the unforgettable merriment.
